Caleidoscópio
Cristina Canale
—
Kaleidoscope is the title of Cristina Canale’s new show which opened to the public on September 29th. Through 11 paintings, the artist proposes to geometrize the world with new optics, inviting the spectator to image day to day scenes as if they were seen through a kaleidoscope.
Urban landscapes, natural phenomenon (rain, lightning and thunder) and also human figures are reinterpreted using geometrical painting references, pictograms and schablone. Canale takes a walk through the universe of Alfredo Volpi, Piet Mondrian and Wassily Kandinsky the build this new theme.
To the artist, what matters is the encounter amongst the geometrical, abstract, the figurative and narrative through a way of painting that creates contradiction, tending, and destabilizing the “look” so that one can have a better understanding of the painting.
