In your third solo show at Silvia Cintra + Box 4 gallery, the artist of São Paulo presents a series of objects that dialogue with painting, architecture and drawing. The works of art instigate the spectator’s look creating elements of tension between the materials and suggesting a reflection on the relations of disharmony and conflict.
Starting from surfaces with automotive paintings, of neutral colors, Marcius produces geometric drawings which propose an interaction between these objects and the architecture. The drawing formed by the attrition of objects in these paintings has the delicacy of a minimum stroke, but also shows aggressiveness by violating the surface of industrial finishing.
Martelinho de Ouro is the name of the service specializing in repair small damages in cars. At the exhibition, the annoyance of the scratch of the key in the painting of the new car and the sound that this friction produces is exactly the starting point of the works. Sometimes using construction elements that come out of the wall and attack the smooth surface of the painting, sometimes using the wall as a support for the drawing made by these materials.
In addition to this series of paintings, the show still features three iron sculptures (construction rebar), arranged on bases with automotive painting. The movement of the sculpture on this basis produces a geometric design that in this case is no longer a nuisance and is shown as an intentional movement of scratching the surface accurately.
