The artist Ana Maria Tavares will open her third solo show at the gallery next September 17th. In “O Real Intocável” (The Untouchable Real), Ana will present ten new works that explore the relationship between art and architecture, the constant theme of her entire work.
Besides the architecture that is always Ana’s starting point, another aspect that is fundamental in her production is the industrial culture present in the making of her works, which are always created in factories. ‘The territory that most inspires me is industry. The places that really lead me to great ideas are always the techniques, because the more I know how to do it, more I can expand what I want to do,” the artist says.

Although this industrial rigor is visible in the works, their production follows another rhythm, almost handmade. Ana enters the factory and changes what would be a serial production, creating new colors, new materials and techniques. The final result is works of industrial aspect, but with a unique aspect, characteristic of a work of art.
For the gallery show the materials used by the artist are photographic prints on mirrored and transparent materials and marbles fillets and plates. From them are created works that Ana considers as “ruins of the future, contaminated cartographies, in order to create a universe that moves between archaeological, unnatural urbanism, geometry and organic life.”
