ARCOlisboa 2018
—
The gallery will be at ARCOlisboa from May 17 to 20 at the booth G8.
For ARCOlisboa 2018, the Galeria Silvia Cintra + Box 4 intend to present unpublished works by two painters from different generations, proposing a dialogue between them. Painting, collage and watercolor would be the starting point to show the public the latest production of Andrea Rocco and Cristina Canale.
Cristina Canale (Rio de Janeiro, 1961, lives in Berlin), one of the exponents of the so-called “Generation 80” of Brazilian painting, alongside names like Daniel Senise and Beatriz Milhazes, is an artist who has in color its main characteristic. For the fair, the gallery selected three paintings that explore everyday images, such as a house, a purse, and a pair of shoes. It is from these seemingly simple images, that Cristina constructs its own universe of colors, layers and transparencies.
Andrea Rocco (São Paulo, 1977, lives in Lisbon), not only focuses on a single artistic practice, there are paintings, assemblages, needlework, interventions in prints and watercolors, but the common denominator are the accumulations of images, materials and mentions at different history periods, which pervade all production, and which at first glance resemble the practice of the first travelers who collected information and transposed to paper.
For Arco Lisboa, the gallery intends to show a series of collages and watercolors made especially for the project of the fair.
