Amilcar de Castro’s Garden: Neo-concrete under the sky of Brasília
The exhibition “Amilcar de Castro’s Garden: Neo-concrete under the sky of Brasília” brings more than 60 large works, by one of the biggest names in sculpture in Brazil; and inaugurates a new landscape area of the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil Brasília, focused on art and coexistence, which can be visited for free, starting February 23, 2022. The project highlights what could have been the encounter of Amílcar de Castro’s constructivist art with the architecture and urbanism of Brasília, a city characterized by open space, by the wide horizon, where public buildings become sculptures and compete with other urban landmarks for our gaze.

The central idea is to offer the public a space for contemplation and debate on Amílcar de Castro’s work in dialogue with the capital’s urban perspective. The central idea is to live the aesthetic experience of the clash between the large three-dimensional works created by the artist, found in so many public spaces in the country and abroad, and the observer’s body.
