The Silvia Cintra + Box 4 gallery is pleased to present Iole de Freitas’ latest work in a solo exhibition opening on August 28.

Continuing the powerful research that the public was able to experience in the exhibition “Fazer o ar” (Making Air) at Paço Imperial, Iole invites us to take another deep dive into her universe. The 18 works, all previously unseen, reveal the artist’s mastery in pushing the limits of materials, transforming the rigidity of steel and the delicacy of paper into manifestations of a vital force.

The exhibition articulates the dialogue between the acclaimed series “Mantos”, which take on new configurations in the relationship between painting and sand and minerals, as if they were a second skin, and “Algas” (Algae), whose stainless steel forms float in space. As a novelty, the artist presents a set of stainless steel sculptures that receive a delicate hand-painted finish, adding new layers of color and texture to her sophisticated three-dimensional production.

It will be a unique opportunity to witness the evolution of the work of an artist who is fundamental to Brazilian contemporary art.
