DANIEL SENISE AT SILVIA CINTRA + BOX4
Opens on November 8th, the new solo show by Daniel Senise at the gallery. “Biographer” brings together paintings and photographs that have a connecting element between them, a rectangle in the center of the canvas. This rectangle appears in all the works of the exhibition, although with different treatments and materials.
A rectangle within the rectangle of the canvas itself is the main idea of the series “Biographer”, which also gives the title to the exhibition. This series began to be made by Senise in 2013 and will be composed by 85 works, which the artist has done since then. In the exhibition will be presented three “biographers” that were never shown before.
The other paintings in the show depict interiors of large museums and the quadrilaterals represent the paintings on display in these spaces. There will be three canvases reproducing the Museum of Nantes and the Rothko Chapel in Houston, USA.

The technique of the paintings is the same as the artist has used since the early 2000s. With a very fine fabric, Senise “prints” the floor of abandoned spaces and collects residues and traces that show the accumulation of memory, and what remains of that space and time. With dust, glue and other remains, the artist creates different shades of fabric and then with a kind of marquetry he recreates these spaces on the canvas.
Besides the paintings, the exhibition will have a series of photographs. These are images made in 2014, on the construction of the old Matarazzo Hospital in São Paulo, on which Senise overlays wooden plates collected in the space itself and which are represented in the images.
