Silvia Cintra + Box 4 is pleased to present After the Monument (Depois do Monumento), a solo exhibition by artist Laercio Redondo in collaboration with Birger Lipinski, opening on March 12, 2026, from 7 pm to 10 pm. The exhibition features a curatorial text by Ana Magalhães.
The exhibition proposes a sophisticated interplay of materialities and scales, linking classical tradition to still life through material displacements. In the set of approximately twenty new works that comprise After the Monument, Laercio Redondo deepens his research on collective memory and historical erasures, using classical visuality as a starting point to create tension between the monumental and the everyday.
The core of the exhibition is structured through a series of monotypes on ceramic tiles, where fragments of Greco-Roman statuary emerge in direct dialogue with three-dimensional arrangements. In these compositions, marble and latex fruits occupy the walls, subverting the logic of traditional still life and inviting the viewer into a sensory experience that incorporates sound and temporal dimensions. By bringing icons historically associated with permanence and the idealization of the human body closer to industrial and ephemeral materials, the artist explores the transformations of these references within a contemporary context.
From a critical perspective, the exhibition highlights fundamental tensions: the clash between the classical and its successive reinterpretations, the boundary between the monumental and the decorative, and the fragility between what is permanent and what is unstable. After the Monument continues Laercio Redondo’s ongoing investigations, in which images and objects function as tools for reflecting on visual culture and the construction of the collective imaginary in today’s society.
We look forward to seeing you at the opening night.
