Landscape with tiny house
Maria Klabin
—
The exhibition “Landscape with tiny house”” by the artist Maria Klabin opens on 24th August at the gallery. Unpublished paintings were selected for the show in big and small canvases that were made by the artist during COVID-19 pandemic. In these series, the human figure almost desappears, giving way to daily objects, landscapes and dead nature.
What started out as an unpretentious painting exercise during lockdown ended up gaining volume and becoming a potent snippet of what were silence and introspective days. Pomegranates, bananas, tangerines and flowerpots painted in small canvases form this first group of production.
Then Maria started working with landscapes in slightly larger formats. Inspired by photographs and observational painting, the artist brings fragments of the Pantanal vegetation, thickets and also some beach scenes to the works, a theme that has already become recurrent in her work.
