ArPa 2022

Stand C02
For the first edition of ArPa, the gallery Silvia Cintra + Box 4 has specially curated works by the artist Roberto Magalhães (RJ, 1940). Esotericism, humor, fantastic realism, childhood, and dreams are elements present in the works selected for the stand, which celebrates the launching of the book “Roberto Magalhães,” produced by the gallery in partnership with Nau das Letras and Itaú Cultural.
The book “Roberto Magalhães” is a panorama of his multiplicity. It follows the artist’s entire trajectory, from 1960 until today. In this space of time, Roberto – who began his career working in graphics, illustration, and advertising – has participated, among other events, in exhibitions that have renewed the visual arts in the country – the “Opinião 65” and the “Nova Objetividade Brasileira” -, has created esoteric art, and has dedicated himself to archeology and history.
However, the curatorship made for the stand focuses on the artistic production of the last two decades, with unpublished paintings and drawings, in which Roberto explores a series of geometric abstractions with acrylic paint and gouache. In addition, black and white works, made with Indian ink and watercolor, create an elegant contrast with the artist’s fantasy and imaginary world.
